Whether you’ve been considering getting Invisalign for an overbite, crowded teeth or any other smile concern, you’ll be happy to know the system of clear aligners is an effective solution. Our Papillion Invisalign and Invisalign Teen patients love the comfortable, convenient, discreet treatment.
That said, as with any appliance, there is an adjustment period. In this post, Dr. Nathan Hawley will be giving you a better idea of what to expect during your first week of Invisalign and sharing some tips for making your transition a smooth one. Before you know it, you will forget you are even wearing your aligners and you’ll be on your way to a brand new smile.
What Happens in the First Week of Invisalign Treatment?
Before we dive into what to expect, let’s discuss what happens in the first week of Invisalign treatment. Once Dr. Hawley creates a personalized, precise treatment plan on a computerized model of your mouth and sends it to the Invisalign lab, a series of custom aligners will be printed according to his specifications.
When the aligners arrive at our Papillion orthodontic office, you’ll come by to pick them up. We’ll show you how to insert and remove them and fill you in on everything you need to know, including your wear schedule.
You’ll put in your first Invisalign tray and wear the aligners for about 22 hours per day, only taking them out to eat and drink, brush and floss your teeth, and wear a mouthguard while playing sports. Depending on your treatment plan, you may change to a new set of aligners at the end of your first week and just like that, you’ll be one step closer to your final results.
