Papillion Braces
Trusted Treatment
If crooked teeth make you feel self-conscious, self-ligating metal braces at Hawley Orthodontics are an excellent solution. They work for patients of all ages and are even more effective in more complex cases.
All About Metal Braces
Before you start imagining unwieldy hunks of metal, you should know today’s braces are nothing like they used to be.
At Hawley Orthodontics, we offer self-ligating metal braces. These small, esthetic, efficient marvels of modern orthodontics still use brackets and high-tech archwires to gently guide your teeth into alignment.
The big difference between self-ligating braces and traditional braces is that self-ligating brackets don’t require elastics. Instead, these modern metal braces have a built-in door mechanism that holds the wire in place.
Breaking Down Your Braces Procedure
Dr. Hawley, Dr. Brace, and our team are braces experts, which means your procedure will be swift, painless, and effective.
Here’s what you can expect:
1. Have a Chat
You’ll stop by our Papillion orthodontic office for your free consultation where you’ll get to meet the awesome Hawley Orthodontics family.
We’ll examine your mouth, snap a few photos, and take digital x-rays and impressions (no goopy molds here!).
Then, Dr. Hawley or Dr. Brace will determine your diagnosis and the best course of treatment. He’ll sit down with you and your parents — unless you’re a grown-up, of course — and chat about your treatment goals and options.
They’ll also answer any questions so you can make an informed decision.
2. Get Your Braces On
Woohoo! Time to kick off your smile journey. This part is pain-free and requires exactly zero needles.
Dr. Hawley or Dr. Brace will simply attach the brackets to your teeth with special glue. A team member will then place the archwires, and if you want to wear colored elastics, you can choose your favorite shades.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Once it’s complete, we’ll explain how to care for your new braces and you’ll be on your way.
3. Visit Us Every Month or Two
Every four to eight weeks, you’ll swing by for an appointment. Dr. Hawley or Dr. Brace and our expert team will check on your progress and make any necessary adjustments to get you one step closer to your fresh, new smile.
Every single time you visit, Dr. Hawley or Dr. Brace will meet with you, answer your questions, and keep you updated so that you’re confident about your treatment.
For kids and teens, we make sure their parents or guardians know exactly what’s going on, too.
4. Say Goodbye to Your Braces
And just when you were getting attached, too! (Get it?) Anyway, we’ll start your final appointment by giving you a high-five for making it this far (even if you’ve laughed at none of our jokes).
Next, we’ll get down to business. Using special tools, Dr. Hawley or Dr. Brace will gently remove your brackets and wires, which won’t hurt (at least not physically — this is a goodbye, after all).
Once we polish your teeth, you’ll get to admire your beautiful new smile.
5. Say Hello to Your Retainers
When you finish your braces treatment, your teeth have a natural tendency to shift back towards their old places.
The key to preventing this — and keeping your new smile looking amazing — is wearing a retainer.
We’ll create a custom retainer just for you once your braces come off. The appliance will stabilize your teeth in their new positions and ensure your results last a lifetime.
